Canadian Thanksgiving weekend
The best thing about marrying into a Canadian family is having two Thanksgivings.
I mean there are for sure other perks. And actually, this has literally just happened this one time. But still. It's a beautiful concept. I also team "Thanksgiving should maybe be in October, or at least early November." I need more time to ease into Christmas than the g-force nose dive we take ever year the second American Thanksgiving is over.
Well, I got this off track real fast. All this to say, the weekend of Canadian Thanksgiving, we met the stateside Miller family in Innsbrook, Missouri, which is outside of St. Louis and more or less half way between Newton and Columbus.
We rented a chalet together and definitely weren't there long enough. But we definitely made the most of the time we did have. It was so relaxing! The house was near a pond and had kayaks for us to use. We also spent time reading (and I napped a bit), eating great food and generally just chilling. Shirley even made a Thanksgiving dinner for us on Saturday evening. (So good!)
In the past, the Millers have tried to have some kind of summer or all camping trip. A lot has changed since those times and I am hoping that maybe this meet up for Thanksgiving weekend will become more of a tradition. It was really quite lovely.
