An Autumnal weekend

We zipped down to Harrisonburg, Virginia with Blake and Brendan this weekend for a very quick autumnal visit. Blake and Brendan happened to be going down and offered to take us with them. It was a lovely getaway from Columbus even if it was for barely 48 hours.

(Honestly, things here have been slightly depressing. Mostly because we live in a basement and basement life is not very cute. But settling into a new place is really hard. Levent and Tito aren't doing the best either and we we make a sad little trio most days. So it was really good to get away and hang out with the Baker family for a bit).

We arrived late Friday night and so were basically just there for Saturday and Sunday morning. Super short. But we made the most of it. On Saturday morning, we walked down to the coffee hound to get caffeinated (as per usual).

Shortly there after, Leah and I went to the Agora to do some shopping and then met up with the boys at the Skelton fest happening downtown. The main pull for us was the "sip and stroll," which was were you could buy drinks from local businesses and than roam around with them. We had a quick lunch at the Grilled Cheese Mania food truck before heading to Sage bird and then Clementine's to get drinks. We ended our rambling with dinner at Mashita, a Korean restaurant that has the best gochujang wings. All in all, a fun day (although Malakai did not enjoy himself very much during our time at Skelton fest. Being a middle schooler is hard).
Magic potion

On Sunday morning, we enjoyed some Magpie pastries while we waiting for our turn to eat there for brunch. (Since it is such a small place, the wait times are very long). My parents, who live in Harrisonburg, were out of town this weekend ironically. But it turned out that my Dad got back just in time to join us for brunch at Magpie. That was a fun surprise.
After brunch, we decided to go to a pumpkin patch before Levent and I needed to leave. Somehow, we got completely carried away. The Bakers came away with an entire wagon of pumpkins. And we ended up taking 3 home. (I am actually trying to roast one right now; we'll see how that goes since I have no idea what kind of pumpkin it is). We were the only ones at this u-pick place and it was so fun hunting for pumpkins in the field.
Cheers to a wonderful, fun and a much-needed relaxing weekend! I am ready to go back.
