Leah and Malakai visit Columbus
Ever since I got back from Bolivia in March, it seems like time has speed up significantly. I guess that's kind of what happens whenever spring comes around. January drags but spring flies.
The week after I got back from Bolivia was my sister's spring break. So she and Malakai came up to Columbus to hang out with us and see our new city. I took a few days off work so we could live it up.
Highlights included going antiquing with my sister, watching March Madness games together, going to bakeries, bookstores and the library, visiting COSI and going out for drinks with my sis. It was so fun having them here.
I was so pumped to visit COSI because of their visiting Titanic exhibit. I am fascinated by the tragedy of this richy-rich ship. (I am not sure why but here we are). We had to pay extra for it but, in my opinion, it was totally worth it. There were actual artifacts recovered from the wreck (including a Champaign bottle that STILL HAD CHAMPAIGN IN IT! What!? How?!) There were also reproductions of parts of the ship, including the grand staircase. It was very cool. (And very eerie). At the beginning of the exhibit, they gave us a "ticket" that had the information of a real passenger and then at the end you scanned the ticket to see if they made it or not. Dark tourism for sure, but an interesting way to interact with the information.
One evening, Levent convinced Leah and I to go down to our neighborhood bar, the Oracle, and have a drink. I was hesitant because I really thought this place was basically closed down. Turns out I was wrong and it's a pretty cool bar, if you like dark academia vibes, which I do.
As I said maybe like five times already in this post, it was so fun having them here. I cannot wait for them to come back sometime.
