Autumnal visit to Virginia
The trip started off on a rough foot. I woke up the morning of my travel day to find that my second flight of the day (from Atlanta to Charlottesville) was already delayed. Hoping for the best, I started my travel day. But my second flight kept getting pushed back and pushed back. Feeling very anxious that my flight was eventually going to be cancelled, I decided to change my flight (which I could do for free) to one that arrived in DC instead. My parents are rockstars and picked me up (despite it being a 4 hour round trip for them). I am so grateful that they were flexible like this. We arrived at my parents' house around 9:15pm and my original flight to Charlottesville finally left around 9:45pm. So we wouldn't have gotten to my parents' house until after midnight sometime. It was a bumpy start, but I made it!
The rest of time was lovely. On Friday, Mom took me out for breakfast at one of her favorite coffee shops. We then ran a few errands together and then went back to the house to set up the Christmas tree. (Early? Yes, but we did it anyway). That evening, we headed to the middle school for Malakai's musical. This year they did The Little Mermaid, which was by far the best one yet. (It was way funnier than last year's musical). Malakai did so good too! (He played Grimsby, who is Prince Eric's right hand man). It is always a delight to see how he's grown as an actor over the years and to see him shine on stage.
Saturday morning, we all had brunch together to celebrate Dad's birthday (which was the Wednesday before).
After brunch, Leah and I did a bit of shopping downtown before I went back to my parents house in the afternoon. Mom and I hung out (after we got drinks at Broad porch coffee) and then we went to the musical again in the evening.
