Two Merry Christmases

Another Christmas season has come and gone. And I continue to be grateful that Levent and I are able to celebrate with both sides of our family (well most of them anyway). True, this has gotten significantly easier now that we live among the Ohio Millers. But still, it's really great.

Part 1:

We celebrated Miller Christmas earlier this year because my brothers-in-law were heading down to Antarctica for the holidays. (I know, right?). So this year we celebrated the second weekend in December, starting Saturday afternoon after Levent got home from work.

We did the usual things. We made pizza together, which is a Christmas Eve tradition and ate it around the tree. Afterwards we started a puzzle and watched KU basketball, followed by a late night movie (the new Knives out film).

On Sunday, we had Turkish breakfast, followed by more puzzling (and then lego building) and cocktails and then an evening Christmas dinner. Plus it snowed a lot that weekend, which made everything seem extra Christmasy.
It was a lovely weekend (although a big bummer that we had to go to work the next day).

Part 2

Fast forward to Christmas day when Levent and I headed down to Virginia to be with my parents and sister's family for a few days.

As always, we did the usual things we do when we are in Virginia. We arrived on Thursday afternoon and spend the evening eating snacky things and playing some games.

On Friday, we met my parents downtown at Broad Porch for some coffee and then popped into a cute secondhand clothing boutique. That evening was "Christmas Eve" for us, which we celebrated by having supper together followed by a comfy pants/book gift exchange for those who wanted to participate.
Saturday was our "Christmas day." Before heading over to my parent's place, my sister's family and Levent and I walked down to get coffee once again as the weather was quite warm. We went to Mom and Dad's to have Christmas lunch followed by the opening of all the gifts. Dad got us a family puzzle; so we worked on that before heading out to get ice cream (of course). That evening we went back to the Bakers and all had pizza and watched the Pop-Tart bowl, which is the most ridiculous bowl of them all.
We headed back home the next day, but not before we had breakfast with the Bakers at Little Grill.

Another great part of this holiday season was that I was able to take two full weeks off work. It. was. glorious. I didn't know what to do with myself the whole time (as the weather was not the best), but I am grateful I took the time to rest and relax.

Merry Christmas!
