Springtime 2026: April
Part 2 in my series about spring this year. This is April.
And these are the highlights
April started off with a bang this year, with a long Easter weekend at the beginning of the month. Since I get both Friday and Monday off for the holiday, I get pretty excited about it. On Friday, my mother-in-law and I went up to Dublin to a very cool Moroccan cafe called Maison Skalli. Great coffee and great pastries. (I had pistachio everything). Shirley and also popped into Quilt Beginnings to visit Levent (and to buy some fabric) before we ran a bunch of errands, like going to Trader Joe's. (Always a classic). It was a fun day.
I made a cake for the first time in a long time. (It was a carrot cake). I actually used to make all the time back in like 2018-2019. That was back when I could take the cake into work and my co-workers would eat it. Once COVID hit, I stopped doing that obviously. So it was fun to make another one. This time, we ate it for family dinner (two weeks in a row).
Levent and I went out for Easter brunch, kind of randomly, to Dough Mama, which is one of my favorite places for brunch in the city. I love going out for brunch. So it definitely was a highlight of the month.
I started a new painting project! That is often to biggest battle for me, but I did it!
Levent and I watched the live stream of the Artemis II landing. It was very cool and historic. And honestly I hadn't paid that close attention to the mission until Levent wanted to watch the splash down. (Besides the songs NASA would play to wake the astronauts up every day. I was obsessed with that).
I finally was brave and went to this huge international grocery store by myself.
I moved our old patio furniture to one of the back porches and now have a little backyard oasis. I enjoy sitting outside every afternoon it's nice, with Tito by my side. It's been really great for my mental health.
I finished an apron in sewing class. It didn't really turn out how I wanted to but it gave me motivation to try again.
Mom and Dad came through Columbus and I went with them to Illinois to visit my brother's family. The highlight of the weekend was Mikaela's musical. After all she has been through in the last through months, it was great to see her do something she loved.
Another highlight for me was our family game night. Luke picked me to be on his team and then we won! Go Team football fans!
And that was April.
May is coming up next!
